Six duplex, palapa-roofed, octagonal-shaped cabanas are set back among the palms here on a broad, bright-white sand beach. The airy second floor guest rooms cost more, but all the rooms have comfortable beds suspended from the ceiling and spacious bathrooms. A huge sand floor, beachside palapa, with a tiled dining area and kitchen, serves as a common room for guests. The kitchen dishes up a big buffet breakfast (included in room price) and guests can use the facility to store food or cook. The unusually large common room is like a giant screened-in sand box with such toys as a swing, stereo, lounge charis, and books to read. Co-owner and manager Ginny Hill. a certified dive instructor, claims the Rancho is "New Age" friendly, but don't bring the kids, it's adults only. They rent sea kayaks and mountain bikes. Good karma.

The Rancho Libertad is run by Americans. The main building houses a large, ground level room that is covered in sand, where guests can play checkers, gaze at the stars through a telescope, strum the guitar or play the drum. A well equipped communal kitchen is open to all. The 12 rooms have ceiling fans and some have beds suspended from ropes. Or if guests prefer, there are hammocks. The hotel's beach is very lovely. Turning in early and sleeping late are de riguer here. Guests can also rent a kayak for 21 pesos an hour, a bicycle for 50 pesos a day and snorkeling gear for 60 pesos a day.

Rancho Libertad has several small, two story thatched bungalows with a guestroom on each floor. Upstairs rooms are priced at US$65, downstairs US$55, for a single or double, all with private bath, buffet breakfast included. Lower rates are offered when it's not busy. Scuba diving and snorkeling gear is available for rent, as are bicycles.

The cabana-by-the -beach concept reaches new heights with these two-story palapa-covered buildings set right on the sand. The 13 rooms have hanging beds (like hammocks and mattresses), big bathrooms with five gallon jugs of purified water, green cement floors, ceiling fans, and electric bug repellent dispensers that have little odor. Breakfast (included in the rate) is served in the communal dining room and lounge area. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen facilities and refrigerator for other meals. Diving and snorkeling tours are available, as is massage. Yoga and body work groups sometimes book the whole place for workshops, taking advantage of the large sand-floored meeting area under the main palapa. No credit cards accepted. South of the town center past the ferry pier.

To hold your reservation:

We do ask for a non-refundable room deposit within one week of your confirmed request.
When you request a reservation you will receive information to make your room deposit.
Nonrefundable payment of balance is due within 15 days (30 days during holiday season) of arrival.

Visa and Mastercard are accepted, with a 6% charge added to the items charged. (Best to pay with cash!). NO personal checks will be accepted. There is a $10 charge for a third person in a room. RESERVATION

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations are effective on the date written notice is received by email. Refunds will be processed according to each situation on a timely basis.
The following assessments will apply to cancellations:
- No refunds are made if reservations are canceled within 15 days of arrival. However, we will accommodate guests who want to change/reschedule their reservations during that time period (15 days prior to arrival).
- During the holiday season no refunds will be made if cancelled within 30 days, but reservations may be rescheduled at the same nightly rate.
- Canceling with 15-30 days notice – refund of payment excluding deposit.
- 31-60 days notice – ½ deposit back (but if the deposit is $25 or less, $0 back)
- Cancellation of reserved nights after arrival date is charged at $10 per night per room.
- The refund will be processed in a timely manner depending upon method of payment.
